Queen Camilla said to well-wishers King Charles was “doing very well” on a journey to Northern Ireland.
During a visit to the Arcadia deli in south Belfast, shop assistant Brenda Robb presented a get well card to Queen Camilla for King Charles, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment.
The Queen expressed gratitude for the card and conveyed the King’s disappointment at not being able to attend. Responding to comments about men’s demeanor as patients, Queen Camilla humorously remarked that she tries to keep the King in line.
Royal Engagements in Northern Ireland
Queen Camilla arrived at Hillsborough Castle, County Down, for a series of engagements. King Charles has temporarily withdrawn from public duties due to his health condition.
The Queen interacted with shopkeepers and members of the public during her visit to Lisburn Road. At Coffey’s Butchers, she received food items as gifts and mentioned taking them back for her husband to enjoy.
At Knotts Bakery, she shared a light-hearted moment with owner William Corrie, his wife Zoe Salmon, and their son Fitz. Despite her husband’s absence, the Queen was warmly received by the Lord Lieutenant for County Down and castle staff.
Previous Visits and Current Trip
Queen Camilla’s last visit to Northern Ireland was in May 2023, following the coronation. This trip marks her 22nd visit to the region and her first without King Charles by her side.
